What is wrong with society?!

Yeah, so internet is distracting, and I was going to sleep like an hour ago but…yeah. Goddammit!

Anyways, I am keeping up to date with everything to do with movies and tv shows…and apparently there is all this hype about the last episodes of Gossip Girl. If you’ve EVER watched an episode….you’ll know its contrived, lame and extremely overblown in its artificiality. But…I just saw this promo and could not help but roll my eyes and sigh REALLY LOUDLY:

I mean…seriously? This is POPULAR?!?!

I just….don’t get it. It’s so UGH. “I love you but I don’t love you, I want you but I don’t want you” Far out how do people find this entertaining?!?!??! It’s just like Greys Anatomy but WORSE. Yeah. I don’t get why this show gets so many fans, but honestly, is this not extremely boring to anyone else? How much of this can you take before you just want to tell them to STFU and get off the screen?

Also, I had the pleasure of witnessing a Justin Bieber clip firsthand the other day while eating Icey Ice and I was stunned. WHAT HAS SOCIETY COME TO!!??!? I have NO IDEA what song it was, but the clip features an Usher cameo and its of him at some party, trying to chat this girl up who is obviously wayyy older than him, and they are blowing bubbles. Of course, no alcohol is explicitly shown but its kinda implied with the setting and all. And he was singing about true love and other generic pop shit like that. But if you haven’t already heard of this pop sensation that is Justin Bieber…check this shit out:

Was your mind blown? Like this video right here….it disgusts me EVEN MORE SO than the BBP rave music video clip. I have to say though, the child exploitation in this whole money making scheme is ridiculous. Usher’s “child prodigy”? YEAH RIGHT. More like “ka-ching, ka-ching, KA-CHING”.

First of all, does anyone not think he sounds like a tweenage girl?! Second of all, what is he doing…at parties with 30 yr old dudes with bling and grillz…chatting up girls…when he’s like 12. Thirdly….what is he doing hanging out with USHER. WHAT A ROLE MODEL – NOT. Fourthly….what is he doing singing about “love” and “hooking up”. ITS SO WRONG. He’s so young, and innocent looking…and….so…NOT…gangster…..it’s just….WHY IS HE SO POPULAR. WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE LIKE HIM. Not only is he the most talked about topic on Twitter, his album is actually selling OUT – like…its at the top of the charts or something, apparently.

See – I don’t get why shit like Justin Bieber and Gossip Girl are so popular. How do people see the appeal in these things that pretty much sum up what is wrong with society?! Gossip Girl pretty much worships money and superficiality and general bitchiness – but that’s ok! It’s entertaining and we like to watch rich kids in NYC battling for the most infamy, hook ups and bitchfights! It’s not setting a bad example for kids at all! It’s just teaching people the REAL values in life – money, fame and power!

And not to mention Justin freakin Bieber…..I mean…I don’t even know where to start with this one. Is this not child abuse?! He obviously doesn’t write his own songs, I mean does he even know how to add numbers yet? Like, its just these blatant contradictory values in society that piss me off: on one hand, we teach kids to just stay in school and be happy with what you got….BLAH BLAH BLAH. Then we have all these images in pop culture of vanity and self worth against your status and wealth, and popularity based on image ie. TAYLOR LAUTNER.

And seriously, while we’re on the topic of Taylor Lautner, why is it ok for middle aged mums to salivate wildly over this 17 year old dude? Why was Christ Weitz allowed to exploit him for the sake of the Twilight: New Moon movie? If you’ve seen that POS, it contains the most blatant exploitation of his body to get a reaction from tweenage girls and desperate housewives. I’m not even exaggerating. It was like Weitz was like “OKAY scene is getting boring – Taylor, TAKE OFF THAT SHIRT NOW.” Which was…pretty much every scene. Guess they needed some sot of decoy to throw people off the shit plot of the actual movie.

I don’t know. Perhaps I am just rambling like a madperson becacuse it is 5:30 in the morning and I have nothing better to do but whinge at the double standards which exist in relation to these things. I didn’t even start out to rant about double standards; I was just really disgusted with the Gossip Girl promo. But at the same time, its just common sense. Why does society allow this to happen? Does this not disturb anyone else? Because it really depresses me to think that the majority of people think its okay to promote all these ideas which we are also somewhat avidly against. That we have kids as young as 12 singing about being in love and chatting up girls in nightclubs? And shows on TV aimed at teenagers, validating measuring one’s self worth against sex, money and power? I don’t really know what else to say but…society is fucked.

Lol I have never actually heard of those programs…

My friend did have MTV a few years ago though and I saw a variety of vomit inducing programs such as Laguna beach and Cribs……………. Apparently there is this program called Teen Cribs now – don’t even know where to start with that one.

The BBP video is amazing and you know it! It is good, honest rave-based fun!

I mean, who doesn’t love kicking bin bags to a good ol’ 909 kick drum?! I know it is one of my favourite things to do on the weekend.
